How a run works

You see a short prompt describing an offense type (for example a category of charge). Six booking photos are shown in a grid. Tap the photo you believe matches the prompt.

Correct picks clear tiles and advance the hunt. Wrong picks are counted against you. The run ends immediately if you make three wrong selections, or when you complete every step in the daily hunt.

Scoring

Points reward early correct answers in a streak-friendly way. The completion screen compares your score with other players on the same daily board when leaderboard data is available.

Daily reset

Board composition and prompts are seeded from the UTC calendar date.

  • Run state may be stored locally so you can resume on the same device.
  • Photos are historical booking images, not live arrest records.

Data source

Images and offense labels come from a public Illinois booking-photo dataset released under CC0 1.0 (copyright waived by the publisher). Identifiable people may appear; the dataset is used here only as a game mechanic. CrimeGuesser does not claim ownership of the underlying photos.

Entertainment only

Mugshot is not a background-check service, law-enforcement database, or mugshot-publishing site. Play for entertainment and daily challenge, not to judge or identify real individuals.
